QA / Testing Resources

If you live in the U.S., and plan on working in the U.S., register for your ASTQB/ISTQB certification exam through AT*SQA. If you take this route, you will be added to the Official U.S. List of Software Testers (TM), plus the ISTQB Successful Candidate Registry. If you take an exam preparation course through an accredited provider, you will also have a Proficiency Distinction added to your CTFL certificate. If you did not take an accredited course, you can add the Proficiency Distinction by taking a boot camp course to get hands-on testing experience. Boot camps aren't held until enough people sign up and get on the waiting list. If you already have a job as a software tester, there is really no value in adding the Proficiency Distinction.

If you take Skillsoft courses through your employer, you may be routed to BCS to register for your certification exam. This is the British Computer Society. Exam vouchers will be priced in GBP.  You can be scheduled to take the test at a center in the U.S., but will not be listed on the Official U.S. List of Software Testers (TM), where American employers are likely to check.
