There are multiple ways you might be communicating in uTest:
  1. uTest Chat - all testers in the cycle can see this. Post your questions & ask for clarification here, unless this cycle is using Slack or Skype instead.
  2. uTest Messenger (tab may say Discussion) - private messages from Test Lead.
  3. Announcements (one-way). May be email and/or on the uTest website.
  4. Slack channel.
  5. Skype channel.

I accepted my first 2 test cycle invitations from uTest at the end of December: one to test a device, and one for website shopping. There were some glitches, both on my part, and on the uTest side. Good learning experience either way. I think I'll go back through the uTest Academy courselets (now 23 of them) to refresh some info in my mind. I'm still pretty nervous, but hanging in there will get me through that.

Found an enlightening article comparing User Acceptance Testing versus Usability Testing:  https://digital.gov/2014/10/06/user-acceptance-testing-versus-usability-testing-whats-the-dif/  Looks like digital.gov may be another good learning resource.

I'm working my way through uTest Academy. There are currently 20 courses, which include orientation, best practices, and learning about test processes and terms. They also have practice test cycles to help you get your "testing legs", before you start accepting slots in paid test cycles.

07/05/2020 I'm using Name.com's Website Builder. It's supposed to be simple and intuitive. It's a pain in the butt. I have used other WYSIWYG editors before, but I don't recall them being this awkward and limited. Maybe I will get used to it.
